How We Progress

Madison's first day of Pre School

Oh my gosh! Madison is eating a carrot! Okay, let's not get too excited. The amount of coaxing, threatening, and bribing that occurred for Madison to eat a carrot makes it hardly worth mentioning, but technically she now eats carrots. I will not mention the crying spell at the doctor's office at the mere mention of her poor eating habits. She will still go on hunger strikes to avoid eating grapes, but I now have pictures of her eating carrots. (To Madison, I am writing this entry in hopes that someday you will have a picky eater for a child. If you turn to my blog entries for advice, you will realize what goes around comes around, and you only have yourself to blame.)

Of course baking is her specialty!

Madison continues do develop some of the funniest mannerisms. Her new word, "boring," is completely obnoxious, but I cannot help but crack up when she says it, since she really has no idea what it means. Examples of Madison's use of boring, " Daddy, these carrots are boring." Or "Daddy, bedtime is boring." Or "Daddy, you are so boring." As you can see, except for the last phrase, she uses the word "boring" in the completely wrong context. Like I said, completely obnoxious but funny all the same.

Kate's new phrase is "funny." Anytime we do something that makes her laugh, Kate starts chuckling, saying, "'funny." in hind sight, she has a better grasp of her new word then does Madison does for her word. There might not be anything cuter than Kate-Kate smiling, and laughing, and saying, "fuuuunnnnnny."

Also worth noting, Shelly just finished her last wedding of the year. Though she enjoys the trips to San Diego, I think she welcomes a break from the traveling. As I have stated before, San Diego is a great place, but it is hard to decide if we would want to move back. We have many dear friends there and the weather cannot be beat, but at the same time, it is an expensive place to raise a family.

This past weekend my parents were kind enough to take care of the girls, so Shelly and I could go to San Antonio for our Friends', Alison and Eli's, wedding. A short break from daily routine can make all the difference in a marriage, and the resort (Westin La Cantera)hosting the wedding is a great place to relax. In fact, if I could reschedule the trip, I would have lengthened it by at least a day to allow both Shelly and I to refresh our batteries. Right now, I am actually writing this post on Saturday morning, I am relaxing in the lobby overlooking San Antonio while Shelly is enjoying the spa (a gift for her on our 5th anniversary.... can you believe it has been 5 years!). This afternoon, we have nothing planned but to lounge one of the pools.

Both Kate and Madison have a heel fettish. Shelly fears for the day they start asking for clothes by label. God help me.
