Kate's Binki Addiction
Kate has binki problem. She is totally addicted to it. At one time, Shelly wanted to cure Kate of her addiction. That lasted until she bit the tip off of her one and only binki (of course this happened when I was out of town for work, leaving Shell to deal with it all alone). Shelly found Kate in her crib, holding her severed pacifier in the air, crying, "Binki, binki, binki." The crying, which turned into frantic screaming, lasted for just over an hour - and Shelly desperately needed (or wanted) Kate to take a nap. Shelly quickly relented and had our neighbor watch Kate as she went out and bought two new binkis that afternoon. And, as soon as one was popped into that little mouth, as if by magic, a sweet slumber followed. If you wonder, we have curbed Kate's addiction to her crib. Though she often calls for her precious binki, it now gives her something to look forward to at nap time and bedtime.

Self Portraits
Today the sun was shining and it was one of those amazing clear and crisp fall days. After being cooped up from a weekend of rain we soaked up every minute of outside time we could. We rode bikes, walked the neighborhood, played on the neighbors porch swing and then took some wonderful self portraits.

Happy Halloween
I think Halloween is right near the top of every child's favorite holiday; at least that is true at my house. This year we were lucky enough to have my mom in town the week before to help the girls carve pumpkins, decorate the house and make all kinds of fun Halloween Crafts. It is safe to say a well decorated house makes any holiday more festive!
This year Madison chose her own costume, A Butterfly Fairy. Most of you know that Madison has quickly become one of the girliest girls in town... her love of all things whirly and twirly has surprised the "tom-boy" in me and has given Will a fearful headache. So this year when we were shopping on Etsy for costumes I was not surprised when she chose the Most elaborate of butterfly costumes available. But to her credit, it was pretty amazing!
Kate's costume was handpicked by mom... probably the last year I will enjoy that - In honor of the millions of ladybugs that invaded our house in Newport the months before Kate was born, we decided she should be one. For those of you that don't know, ladybugs are said to be good luck.
So our Little Ladybug and Mademoiselle Butterfly roamed the neighborhood and had a great time trick-r-treating. Every time someone opened their door, Kate took it as an open invitation to let herself in to the house... thus getting a lot of laughs (and candy) from the neighbors.
