I Guess there won't be a Cash in the Family

I guess it's time to post it on the blog that Shelly is pregnant again. If you did not know this already, it is not that Shelly and I did not want to tell you but that we seem to be much more nonchalant about this pregnancy. It's not that we are not excited, for we are. We tried long and hard for this one -something we did not have to do for Madison- it's just that we have been there done that. That is we have been there and done telling exclaiming we are going to be parents. So when my best friend didn't know until two weeks ago, you should not feel bad -unless you are family, but I think Shelly ensured we told all of you. Now, I will tell you that Shelly is almost 20 weeks along, do not be offended for not knowing; I just apologized.

Now that we have cleared that up, we found out yesterday the sex of the baby. I secretly knew from the beginning what we were having, not by any premonition, but because of what I was doing when I knocked Shelly up. You see, there is an obscenely large number of Navy pilots who have girls . . .and that is what we are having . . .again. They relate this to the radars we fly around or (in my case) on. Apparently the radar fries all the "y" chromosomes. They are just not quite as strong as the "x" chromosomes, but they are faster. So, in some ways there will not be anything new. We will need some new clothes, for I believe complexes derive from dressing children in their older sibling's hand-me-downs, and this one will already behind the eight ball for when we were in San Diego, our friend and very talented photographer , Suzanne Hansen, took a plethora of awesome pictures of Madison. This is something we will not be able to ever afford for the new girl. (perhaps she will look like Madison and we can just relabel some of the Pictures but looking like Madison would probably cause a complex, too.

If you are wondering if I bummed because I am a guy who is not having a boy, I am bummed only for one reason. You see, if we had a boy, I had convinced Shelly to name him Cash in honor of Johnny Cash (Waylon, Elvis and Shooter were also in the mix). Honestly, if you named your boy Cash or Shooter, how could not grow up being the coolest kid? But, at last, it is not to be. Instead, there will be three girls and me! Awesome. I told Shelly we are getting another dog -end of discussion- and it's going to be a male dog, and he's going to keep his nuts, and we are going to name him Cash or Shooter. It's going to be me and the dog against three girls. . . . We don't stand a chance.

Congrats again you guys! I like the theory... Nate was convinced from the moment we got pregnant that we were having a boy, he said Marines only make boys... and he was right! Post some pics of Shelly pregnant (if she will let you)! Madison will be a wonderful big sister.
