Really? ...Even the Snowman is miserable

Apparently, our Gortex jackets, UGG boots, gas fireplaces, and built-for-the-city SUVs finally offended Mother Nature, and she went varsity, delivering three major snow storms in two weeks. Our region alone received over 50 inches between the storms. In the end, the only word to describe the snow is, ridiculous.

The Snowman Seeing Sunnier Days

We did have moments outside. On Sunday, the weather subsided and temperatures warmed to the mid 30's. All the neighbors came outside, and we spent the afternoon enjoying the snow, which included building a snowman, having a snowball fight, and sledding. Unfortunately, the warm, sunny weather did not last, and Wednesday morning a second blizzard hit us, and there was nothing enjoyable about snow, freezing temperatures, and 30mph winds.

Except for Sunday, the weather remains bitterly cold. Cabin fever has set in with no reprieve in sight. Yesterday, I took the girls around the neighborhood on a sled. They did alright until we had to walk home, into the wind. Madison used Kate as a windshield while Kate's face froze in a contorted expression of misery. Besides Sunday, the weather has been absolutely miserable. I do have to give props to Kate who spent an hour outside as I shoveled the driveway.

The weather did reap some productiveness. Shelly spent yesterday with our neighbor doing our taxes for 2009 and more importantly fixing our taxes from 2008 (thanks Dan). I could not imagine doing my taxes before tax software, but with tax software, it really is not that hard. Another affect of the bad weather is that Kate and Madison have watched more television than an old person with satellite. Kate now wakes up calling for Elmo instead of her mom or dad.
